First day of school First day of school! Welcome to 2nd grade. There was such a buzz in their air today it was mixed with sweat and b.o. (just kidding.) There is always anxiety and excitement associated with the first day back to school. I thought I would be more nervous than I was. I have a great mentor teacher and she and I just seemed to interact seamlessly. She would teach and then volley it over to me and I would teach. The kids saw us as a team and not just me assisting. I felt very empowered.
I have to say that we have a pretty active class, the energy just makes the room buzz. I know that will die down after the first week but in some ways I hope it doesn't. The kids are eager as are we. I was involved in my first flash mob today. The teachers flash mobbed the students at the first of the year assembly; it pretty much rocked! I can now officially say that I was part of a flash mob, now that I think about it I should just go ahead and add that to my resume.
I was worried about my food schedule but it just seemed to flow like everything else. I didn't have much of an appetite today so I wasn't too worried about food. I know can you believe it, for once food wasn't my focus for the day! I made up for it right when I walked in the door tonight though. I got right on that dinner prep and we were eating by 6. Hey, it was an appropriate time to think about food!
I am glad the first day is over, and now we move on.
Love Angela
